Wagenknecht’s Still Alive series examines Dutch Golden Age still life from a contemporary perspective. Incorporating soda cans, sweets, and prescription pills into floral arrangements, the compositions are re-imaginings of the still life genre imbued with humor and cynicism. Objects of consumption, addiction, and pleasure—all of which are symbolic of everyday vices—become memento mori.
