Daisy takes its title from “Daisy Bell,” the song programmed by Bell Labs on an IBM 704 computer in the earliest demonstration of computer speech synthesis in 1961, later referenced in the 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey. A karaoke version of the song is the departure point of the work, which explores human emotions and their anthropomorphic projected desires towards technology. The video is edited using the associative structure of internet browsing and random access memory from a synthesis of internet-sourced footage and computer animation.
