Channel 4 is a video piece by Hannah Perry, combining an audio recording taken during a trip to Pune, India and footage from her video archive that has been edited to appear more deteriorated than the original file. For personal reasons, the artist made an unexpected trip to an ashram, spending much of her time meditating and without any cell service or internet connection. During her time at the ashram, Perry spoke with another visitor whom she met in the smoking area of the commune. The conversation started out about the spirituality of the smoking area in the commune, then drifted into contemplations of life, love, and the psyche. Ultimately, everything is transient and temporary: highs, addictions, contemplations, our bodies.
