Plotter drawing ink on paper
23.5 x 23.5 in / 60 x 60 cm

Part of the Divisibility work series, P-303-11 is a relief cut from wood. Its mathematically precise composition is based on the shape and logic of a cube, as a fixed structure from which signs are generated. The cube is divided into four sections by a horizontal and a vertical cut. Four independent rotations of a cube are projected onto the corresponding quadrants created by the cut. In order to visually stabilize the structure, two diagonally opposed quadrants (top right and bottom left), contain the same rotation. The resulting contours create a starling figure/ground relationship.
