Learning Machine #5: Symbols implements a drawing system based on the work of the late Seymour Papert, a pioneer in artificial intelligence and Constructivist. Voters choose between different abstract symbols, the results of which create a generative animation, accompanied by a musical work for synthesized piano. The underlying algorithm is based on Aristid Lindenmayer’s work with LOGO (Papert’s programming language from 1957), designed for algorithmically creating graphical representations of nature.
